Using Working Papers metadata to produce custom reports in Caseware Cloud

Caseware SmartSync files are continuously feeding data (that we call metadata) to the Caseware Cloud server to which they are assigned.  This is most noticeable with fields such as the Operating Name and Year End Date but it  extends throughout your engagements (e.g. to Turnover, Company size, Audit Materiality, Corporation Tax payments and more).

Some of the more advanced metadata items are identifiable by a prefix of “CWCustomProperty.cw_”, followed by a 6 digit alphanumeric code.  You can view a list of these items (with the corresponding codes) in the following Google Sheet.
