How can I clear a section overlap error message?

If you receive the below error messages when trying to sort areas within the accounts.

This error occurs when one tag has been applied to more than one section of the accounts.

With the release of ep4.05.02, we have introduced a section overlap tool that can be used to locate the overlap.

This can be accessed via housekeeping, found within the Tools tab.

1. Run Housekeeping.

2. If there are no overlaps, you will receive a message confirming this.

However, in this example, we are expecting the following message to occur.

3. Click Yes to the message. A purple warning message will appear at the top of the accounts, with the affected sections also outlined in a purple border.

In the below example, we have a tag spanning over 2 separate accounting policies.

4. Now you know which sections are affected, switch off the purple banner at the top of the accounts using the click here option.

5. Go to Review under the XBRL tool in the Tools tab.

6. A left-hand margin will appear in the accounts, displaying where the tags have been applied.

The longer line on the left indicates where thesections have been tagged as one.

7. Right-click on this tag line and select edit.

8. The tagging box will then appear. Click to remove the tag, and then press Ok.

9. As a final check, rerun housekeeping to make sure no further errors appear.

You will now be able to sort the areas of the accounts without any issues.
