Create a new engagement based on an existing file

Caseware Cloud provides the functionality to to create new engagements based on an existing one. 

This allows you to take advantage of customisations you have made to a previous engagement, providing efficiency when working on multiple engagements. Once the new engagement is created, there is no further connection between it and the source engagement. Any changes you make (in either engagement) will only affect that engagement.

The following information will be copied from the source engagement:

• Customisations to queries
• External documents added to the engagement, such as PDFs and Microsoft Office files
• Customisations to the financial statements
• Visibility settings
• Risks, controls, and risk assesssments
• Areas added to the engagement settings
• Signoff schemes and roles

Please note the following items are not included in the new engagement:

• Trial balance accounts and balances
• Responses and links to internal and external documents in queries
• All signoffs

To create a new engagement please follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to the engagement in your Cloud site.

2. Select More actions (...) | Create Engagement from Source:

 
or load the New Engagement dialogue for your app:

3. In the dialog, select your client entity and enter the name for the engagement file.

4. In the Entity for source engagement field, select the entity that the engagement you want to copy is located in.

5. Select the Source engagement in the dropdown.

6. If required, you can also select the start date and end date for your engagement and enter budget information, as well as select staff members as the preparers and reviewers for the engagement.

7. Select Save.

Please note: This feature is only for the first-time creation of engagements. Currently, there is no feature to bring in any subsequently updated content from the source file, including when carrying forward to next year's file.
