SmartSync – Getting files on and off the Cloud - with QuickVids

Am I connected to the Cloud Server?

1. Open Caseware Working Papers and select Options.

2. Select Caseware Cloud. 

A tick must be placed next to Integrate with Caseware Cloud and the server address entered.

Note: The item circled above will be the firm name unique to the client. If the client is unsure of this, contact our support team.

Publishing a file to the Cloud Server

1. Open a non-SmartSync file in Working Papers.

2. Go to Cloud then Publish (if receiving an error stating unable to connect, check if connected to server in Tools, Options and CaseWare Cloud).

3. Enter the required Entity you use to publish to.

As you start typing CaseWare will provide suggestions.

4. Click OK.

Note: If the required entity is not showing, this will need to be created on the cloud prior to publishing the file

To check the file has been published successfully, log into the Cloud and select the drop down Files.

Alternatively, select Entities and drill down on the entity published to.

The file will also show as being Online in the bottom right hand corner of the Working Papers screen.

There is now a copy of the file on the Server and a parent file on the Cloud. The process is shown in Diagram 1.

Creating a Synchronised Copy

1. Open Working Papers and select SmartSync Server.

2. Select the file required to open.

3. Once opened this will be saved in the default path under Tools | Options | Default Paths.

4. Once opened and saved, the next time you need to access the file you will need to open it from the location the file has been saved as identified in point 2.

Once created there will now have a child copy of the file on your local machine leaving a copy of the file on the Server and a Parent file on the Cloud. The process is shown in Diagram 2.

Note: Do not open another copy from the smart sync server as you will end up with multiple child copies
