How to download a sychronised child copy of a file from the Cloud?

When initially accessing a file on the Cloud, you will need to download a synchronised child copy to a local workspace, normally the Caseware installation folder on the C drive of the machine.

From SmartSync Server

1. Open a local copy of Caseware, then under the Open tab select SmartSync Server

2. Double click on the desired file from the list provided. This will automatically open a synced copy of the file which is saved in the default path entered in the Tools and Options menu.

3. The next time you need to access the file you will need to open it from the default path in the Tools and Options menu

Note: Do not open another copy from the SmartSync Server as you will end up with multiple child copies resulting in conflicts.

4. To check your SmartSync default path, go to Tools and Options.

5. From the Options box choose Default Paths. Your file will be saved in the path shown below SmartSync Path.

From Caseware Cloud website

1. If you Click to view the file on the Caseware Cloud website.

2. Select the icon shown below and choose Open Sync Copy.

3. This again will open a synchronised copy of the file, saving it in the SmartSync default path location.

Note: This option may be disabled depending on the internet browser.
