Creating and formatting a cell

A custom cell may be required for tagging, automatic population of text/figures or to isolate a section of text for specific formatting. This article provides guidance on the latter, along with steps to create a new cell.

1. Access the Enable Editing mode via the View menu. If you do not have the password for Enable Editing please contact your Caseware superuser.

2. Click on the Cell icon beneath the Insert tab in the Caseview toolbar to create a cell.

3. The cell configuration dialog will open as below.

The cell number box will auto-populate we recommend that you name the Cell Number USX or an alternative unique prefix, followed by the sequential number.

4. You are able to edit the cell properties listed below.

Figure 1 - Select the type of cell required. The options are as follows

Figure 2 - Check this button to allow the cell contents to be over-typed in form mode.

Figure 3 - This is the calculation field, here you can enter the required text in speech marks, eg. "Example text".

Figure 4 - The font options allow you to isolate the cell from the style sheet applied to the area. You can deselect the box below to use a specific font/style on the cell, as opposed to the style applied to the paragraph.

Once unticked this will render the options in this tab available and the font/format can be amended as required.

Note: Once this has been done, the Change Style button on the Style tab in the accounts will no longer affect the format of this cell.

If you wish to regain this functionality, return to the cell properties by double-clicking on the cell, and tick to Use Paragraph Font.
