How to insert an object

When inserting objects into your accounts, it is advisable to do so within a custom text note. This will ensure that no changes are made elsewhere within the accounts document.

1. Enter Enable editing mode via the View tab.

2. Click the Lock/Unlock button under the Home tab.

3. Enter the the Enable Editing password (please contact your Caseware superuser if you do not have this password).

4. Position the cursor next to the paragraph marker and choose the Object icon underneath the Insert tab.

5. There are two options for inserting an object. You can either create a new object or create from an existing file.

Option 1 - Create New

Select the Create New option and select the Object Type that you want to create. In the example below, the Excel option is selected.

Select OK and the relevant software will open, allowing you to create the file.

Create the object, save it and it will appear in the accounts.

If you want to edit the object again, just double-click the object and it will open in the relevant software for you to edit.

Option 2 - Create from File

Browse to the specific document where you have created your object.

Once you have selected the right object, click the Link option as shown below. If you double-click the object, the file you imported from will automatically open and you can make changes.

Click OK for the object to appear in the accounts.
