User X has not been assigned to a group within this client file

If you are a new Caseware user and are creating a new Caseware file, you may receive the following error message:


This happens when you are not assigned to a security group in Caseware.

 

1. To rectify this, open Protection Setup and login using admin credentials.

Contact your superuser if you do not have these credentials.

 

 

2. Select the username on the left-hand side and drag/drop into the relevant group on the right-hand side. Click OK to confirm:

 

 

The security settings must then be written to the template that the user was trying to create a file on.

 

3. Select Templates in Caseware Working Papers.

 


4. Double click the template to open. This will apply the security settings to the template, the user will then be able to create a new file based on the template.

 

Close the template and repeat the process for each template the user will need to use.
