Automatically registering the Caseware Working Papers 2023 license

Once you have received your activation code to licence the Caseware Working Papers software, the next step is to apply it to each Caseware installation.

If you are installing Caseware 2023, there are 2 ways to do this:

  • Manually registering each machine with the same authorisation code.
  • Automatically populating this information via the registry (via the steps below).

1. You will need to deploy a registry key first that contains your license key. If you cannot find your license key, please email sales@caseware.co.uk and request this to be resent.

Here is an example of the registry key that will need deploying:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaseWare\Working Papers\2023.00\CWLS]

"AutoRegister"=dword:00000001

"SilentRegister"=dword:00000001

"DoNotSendName"=dword:00000000

"AuthorizationCode"="ABCDEFG123456"

 Note: please make sure the line for Authorization Code is created as a string value and not a dword value.

example:

2. Silently install the Caseware Working Papers 2023 software (either on a fresh machine or directly over the top of Caseware 2020/2021).

This can be done via SMS, Bat files, elevated command prompt or other deployment tools.

Example of command to run:

"\\my_server\installs\Caseware_install\2023 UKProt Syncx64\setup.exe"/S /V"/qb"

3. After installation, each user can follow the registration steps or you can use the following command to perform this remotely:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\CaseWare\cwin64.exe" /registerLicense

For a video example of a batch process, please click here.

4. With registry key contents applied to all of the machines, Caseware will not prompt you to re-register until the renewal date.

If you accidentally register the wrong machine, you can revoke your own licence to make it available again. Please click here for instructions.

5. Extract the downloaded program bundle and save the setup.exe in a new folder.

Rename the setup.exe using the following naming process:

WP" "Version you are installing" "country version" "_Authorisation Code_".exe (note: the country version will be UK for all releases from us)

Example:

WP2023UK_C254850205XXXXXXX_.exe (please make sure you include the _ before and after the authorisation code.)

An example bat file would be:

"D:\CaseWare_2023_prot\WP2021UK_C254850205XXXXXXX_.exe" /V"/qb"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\CaseWare\cwin64.exe" /registerLicense
