I am having significant performance issues when running Working Papers in a Terminal Server/RDS/Citrix environment

Disabling Fairshare will improve Working Papers performance in a Terminal Server/RDS/Citrix environment, this is enabled by default in MS Server 2008 R2, MS Server 2012, and 2016.

We recommend that fairshare for disk is disabled at a minimum.

The other settings may have an effect on other programs that also run on the terminal server.

To disable Fairshare, you will need to make changes to your registry keys.

It is recommended to always back up or export the original keys before making any changes to the registry.

In an environment where Caseware is running alongside other applications disable the following key.

1. Run Regedit.exe

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TSFairShare\Disk and change the EnableFairShare value to 0

3. Once Fairshare is disabled, reboot the server.

For environments where Caseware is the Primary application, the following keys can also be disabled.

1. Run Regedit.exe

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Quota System and change EnableCPUQuota value to 0

3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TSFairShare\NetFS and change the EnableFairShare value to 0

4. Once Fairshare is disabled, reboot the server.

If the above registry keys do not exist these will need to be created.

Note: Rebooting is optional, but recommended for any changes made to a server.
