How to set the default file paths for Caseware

To view or amend the default file paths for Caseware, click the Options button beneath the Tools tab in Caseware Working Papers.

Select the Default Paths tab. You can change the default paths by clicking on Browse and locating an alternate path.

This will set the paths for this machine only. System managers can set default paths for multiple machines via the registry, if required.

The information changed is written to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CaseWare International\Working Papers\2021.00\Settings

A Typical Registry file would look similar to the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CaseWare International\Working Papers\2021.00\Settings]

"LastConversionBackupPath"="\\\\myserver\\CaseWareConversionBackups"
"LastBackupPath"="\\\\myserver\\CaseWare\\Data Backups"
"DefaultPath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CaseWare\\Data"
"TemplatePath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CaseWare\\Template"
"DocumentLibPath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CaseWare\\Document Library"
"SignOutPath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CaseWare\\Data"

"SyncPath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CaseWare\\SyncData"
"YECPath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CaseWare\\Data"

To roll these settings out to all users, copy the keys for the patch settings into your default scripts or deploy the registry keys using Group Policy.
