What is the difference between an ePack and a tPack? - with QuickVid

TPack

A t-pack is an update to the template mapping which doesn't directly affect any existing Caseware file.

A t-pack will contain any new map codes which may be introduced. In order to apply these updates to an existing file you would need to use the copy components function to merge the new map codes with the existing file.

For guidance on this please click here

To use the copy components function:

1. Select Copy Components…from the File menu within Caseware.

2. Select Copy into This File.

3. Select the relevant Template.

4. Select The following components option and then in the Grouping/Mapping.

5. Select Mapping and in Options, select Merge source file’s mapping structure.

6. Ensure that Autofill account properties using mapping properties are selected, as per the below:

7. Once selected, click OK, and run through the remaining pages of the copy components wizard.

The t-pack will automatically apply these t-pack updates to any new files which are created.

Epack

An epack includes updates that directly affect the knowledge libraries which make up the CaseView documents, including the Accounts and Wizard documents.

These updates can include disclosure updates to ensure the accounts are compliant with the latest regulations, or fixes for existing issues.

The epack will also include any additional features which are being introduced.

The epack will include any functionality improvements on the software.

In most cases, the latest epack will contain ALL prior updates, unless the program itself is updated entirely.

The Epack update will prompt for Knowledge Library Updates when opening a CaseView document, as per the screenshot below:

The knowledge library updates would need to be taken on a file by file basis.

This provides the client the opportunity to install the latest epack but not necessarily update/change existing notes within the accounts.
